5 YEAR PLAN
Our Thames Mountain Bike Club is currently writing up our 5 year plan but for now, here is a brief rundown of what's in it
Thames Moanataiari MTB Tracks area
-
Our club is currently sourcing quotes to re-build/upgrade the St John downhill trail, outback loop trail and the Pump track area.
-
We are planning to re-build the picnic area with digger excavation of the area to remove all old debris, building a small retaining wall on the front and laying new bark.
-
New signage to be added to the main gate at the entrance

Karaka Track area
-
We are pushing ahead with our long term vision of opening up and re-building the Karaka track to a 1.3m wide dual purpose tramping and MTB track up to the intersection between the Karaka track and the Waiotahi Track. Quotes are in and we have multiple funding applications in process to get the trail underway.
-
Longer term plan is to open up the Waiotahi & Karaka track to Crosbies hut, then through to Tapu Coroglen road as a dual purpose tramping/MTB trail to allow an overnight stay mtb ride in the Crosbies hut.

Kauaeranga Valley Hotoritori area
-
Build a new "easy up" MTB trail from the logging skid site at the start of the uphill trail to Pyper's Peak that will allow an easier climb up the the start of the Pyper's Peak trail and also the Budgie vs Mullet down hill trail.
-
Continue clearing the very overgrown old mtb trail that creates the far outback loop "The Shocker" trail. (See details/location of the Shocker trail on trailforks).
